Our History

1907

S.M. Kahn Electric formed and became Chicago’s first registered electrical contractor. S.M. Kahn Electric specialized in providing power to Chicago’s manufacturing industry.

1928

Grand Electric formed and specialized in providing the power needs to emerging communications industry. They became a member of the National Electrical Contractors Association in the same year.

1962

The two companies merged and have been charted under the corporate name of Grand Kahn Electric ever since.

Today

Grand Kahn wires the buildings that can't afford to lose power — hospitals and healthcare, EV and renewable infrastructure, and the critical facilities that keep the region running. More than a century on, the work is the same: power that doesn't go down.
