1907
S.M. Kahn Electric formed and became Chicago's first registered electrical contractor. S.M. Kahn Electric specialized in providing power to Chicago's manufacturing industry.
1928
Grand Electric formed and specialized in providing the power needs to emerging communications industry. They became a member of the National Electrical Contractors Association in the same year.
1962
The two companies merged and have been charted under the corporate name of Grand-Kahn Electric since that date.
2005
Grand Kahn takes a new direction when purchased by Company President James Gallagher. Jim has served as President of Grand Kahn Electric for fifteen years.
Jim Gallagher - President
Jim has over thirty years experience in the electrical construction industry, including fifteen years as president of Grand-Kahn Electric. Jim's business degree and supervising electrician's licenses provide a management background with a strong technical ability.
Jim is past president of the Chicago Electrical Estimators Association and has served on the Building Owners and Managers Association Code Committee. In January of 2010, Jim became president of the Chicago Electrical Contractors Association and is a Trustee for the Electrical Joint Apprentice Training Trust.
Jim's work in the Electrical Construction Industry has been honored with a Technical Achievement Award from Mayor Richard M. Daley and a Sterling Achievement Award from the Electrical Contractors Association.
